How to Maintain and Extend the Life of Your Swimwear

Swimwear is an important investment for anyone who swims regularly, whether for fitness, competition, or leisure. However, constant exposure to chlorine, saltwater, and sun can cause your swimwear to deteriorate quickly. To ensure your suits stay vibrant and functional for as long as possible, follow these tips for maintaining and extending the life of your swimwear.

Rinse Immediately After Use

Rinse with Fresh Water : As soon as you get out of the pool or ocean, rinse your swimwear with fresh, cool water. This helps to wash away chlorine, salt, and other chemicals that can degrade the fabric. Make it a habit to rinse thoroughly even if you plan to wash your suit later.

Gentle Washing Is Key

Hand Wash Preferred : Hand washing is the best way to clean your swimwear. Use a mild detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics or a gentle soap. Avoid regular laundry detergents as they can be too harsh.

If you must use a washing machine, place your swimwear in a one of our laundry bags and use the gentle cycle with cold water. This minimises the risk of fabric damage and colour fading.

Avoid Rough Surfaces

When you're not swimming, avoid sitting on rough surfaces like concrete edges or starting blocks with rough grip, which can snag and tear the fabric. Or put down a towel as a barrier!

Dry with Care

After washing, gently squeeze out excess water without wringing the fabric. Lay your swimwear flat on a towel to air dry, preferably in a shaded area to prevent the sun from fading the colour.

Rotate Your Suits

Multiple Suits : If you swim frequently, consider having a rotation of swimwear. This allows each suit to fully dry and recover its shape between uses, which helps maintain elasticity and fit.

Store Properly

Cool, Dry Storage : Store your swimwear in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving it in damp environments, such as a wet towel or gym bag, for extended periods, as this can promote mold and mildew growth.
